The Ogun State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator, Princess Mrs. Olayinka Nasamu, has charged Prospective Corp Members (PCMs) to prioritize discipline and security consciousness throughout their orientation camp experience.
Speaking at the orientation event held at the Sagamu Ikenne stadium on Thursday, Mrs Olayinka emphasized the importance of discipline during the 21 day camp and beyond.
“As you begin this journey, I urge you to embrace discipline and be very security conscious, security is everyone’s business” She said
She also charges PCMs to immediately report any unfamiliar faces in their hostels or rooms for security reasons.
“These values are essential for a successful service year and beyond, I urge all PCMs to call the attention of camp officials to any suspicious activities or movements around their premises” Mrs. Masamu said during the orientation event.
She emphasized the importance of discipline during the 21-day camp and beyond, stating that “Discipline is the foundation upon which success is built. Without discipline, you cannot achieve your goals.”
The 2024 Batch B Stream Two orientation program aims to equip PCMs with essential skills and knowledge for their service year. Mrs. Masamu highlighted the rich history of NYSC in Nigeria and emphasized the opportunities available to Ogun State corp members.
“NYSC has a long history of fostering national unity and development. As Ogun State corp members, you have a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of our great nation.
“We are committed to providing a conducive environment for learning and growth. I urge you all to take advantage of the resources available to you.”
Additionally, Mrs. Osho from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) announced that Ogun corp members are entitled to free healthcare, including free health insurance for pregnant corp members during labor.
“We are committed to ensuring the health and well-being of all corp members. Take advantage of this opportunity to access quality healthcare,” Mrs. Osho said.
In attendance is the Camp director, Oluyemisi Okparo, the head of residency in Abuja, Mr Danjuma, Rep Director in South West, mRs Chinere Ozeagu among other dignitaries.
The orientation program will last for 21 days, during which PCMs will undergo various training sessions, lectures, and activities designed to prepare them for their service year.
