Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially withdrawn from the 2027 Lagos State governorship race, citing party cohesion and respect for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

In a statement issued on April 30, 2026, Jandor announced that he was stepping down following the endorsement of Deputy Governor Dr. Kadiri Hamzat as the consensus candidate by President Tinubu and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos.

“This decision is not borne out of weakness or a lack of capacity, but out of strength, discipline, and a deep respect for party cohesion and unity,” Jandor said.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu and the APC, stating that “party supremacy and strategic alignment are critical to sustaining the gains we have collectively built.”

Jandor, who leads the Lagos4Lagos movement, urged his supporters to remain calm and committed, describing the moment as one to consolidate rather than divide. He noted that the movement was never about one individual but about a cause of equity, inclusion, and a better Lagos.

While stepping aside, Jandor made it clear that he remains fully committed to contributing to the growth of the party and the development of Lagos State.

His withdrawal clears the path for Deputy Governor Hamzat, who has received endorsements from the President and the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
