Adebayo Adeleke, widely known as B-Red and son of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, narrowly escaped an alleged assassination attempt on Wednesday afternoon in Osogbo, in what authorities now treat as a politically charged security breach near the seat of power.

The incident occurred around 3:30 PM along the Oke-Fia axis, close to the Osun State Government House. According to B-Red, he had stepped out toward Alekuwodo market when he noticed suspicious movement around his vehicle at a traffic stop under the Okefia Bridge.

He said multiple motorcycle riders, identified by AMBO caps, began closing in on his car in a coordinated manner, raising immediate alarm. The situation escalated within seconds.

β€œAs I went out to buy some stuff around Alekuwodo market, I just saw some Okada riders with AMBO caps trying to surround my vehicle at a traffic point under Okefia Bridge,” he recounted.

The threat intensified when a vehicle suddenly joined the scene.

β€œAs we tried to move out, we saw a white Toyota Venza coming towards us with a shout of β€˜it is him; it is him,’” he added.

What followed, by his account, was a calculated pursuit. The Toyota Venza allegedly attempted to block his jeep while the motorcycle riders reinforced the chase, tightening movement around his convoy.

β€œAs we moved, the Toyota Venza pursued us, trying to block my jeep, while the motorcycles joined in. The chase continued until we got to the gate of the Osun State Government House, Oke-Fia,” he said.

The singer stated that the attackers only backed off when he gained entry into the Government House premises, effectively escaping what could have escalated into a violent confrontation.

B-Red further claimed that one of the individuals inside the pursuing vehicle was identified as Asiri Eniba, whom he described as a notorious political thug with a history of violent activities.

Security agencies have since been alerted, with the matter formally reported to the police for investigation. As of the time of filing this report, no official arrest has been confirmed.

Reacting sharply, the Osun State Government condemned the incident and demanded immediate action. In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, authorities called for the swift arrest and prosecution of all suspects linked to the attack.

The government warned that any delay in bringing the perpetrators to justice would raise serious concerns about security lapses within the state capital, especially given the proximity of the incident to the Government House.

Investigations are ongoing.
