President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate replacement of all service chiefs, retaining only the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E. A. P. Undiendeye.

In the latest appointments announced on Friday, General Olufemi Oluyede succeeds General Christopher Musa as the new Chief of Defence Staff.

Major-General W. has been named the new Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S. K. Aneke becomes the Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes office as the Chief of Naval Staff.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the decision is part of President Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to reposition Nigeria’s security architecture for greater efficiency and accountability. The new appointees are expected to bring fresh strategies to counter prevailing security challenges across the country, including terrorism, banditry, and oil theft.

The retained Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E. A. P. Undiendeye, is expected to continue coordinating intelligence operations among the armed forces to support national defence priorities.

The newly appointed service chiefs are to resume duties immediately following their confirmation, as the President commended the outgoing officers for their service to the nation.
