BREAKING: Senate Amends Rules, Blocks Uzodimma’s Presidential Ambition
Governor Hope Uzodimma’s reported dream of becoming Senate President is now in shambles after the Senate amended its standing orders to limit eligibility for the office to current senators.
The decision came after a lengthy closed-door session on Tuesday, where lawmakers agreed to new rules prioritizing parliamentary hierarchy and experience.
Under the revised guidelines, only senators who have served two terms can contest for principal offices. Additionally, one of those terms must be the immediate term before nomination.
This means only senators currently serving in the 10th Senate who win re-election to the 11th Senate will be eligible to run for Senate President and other top positions.
