Yoruba Pride: Police Spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi Promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the promotion of its Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to the prestigious rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). The elevation, approved by the Police Service Commission, celebrates DCP Adejobi’s unwavering professionalism, exemplary service, and dedication to national security.

A proud son of Yoruba land, Adejobi hails from Ogun State and has consistently represented his roots with distinction in the force. Appointed in acting capacity as FPRO in February 2022 while still a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), he succeeded then-Commissioner Frank Mba. His confirmation by former IGP Usman Alkali Baba marked a new era in police communication.

With a background in Archaeology and Geography from the University of Ibadan and a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the same institution, Adejobi blends academic excellence with field experience. He notably served as the PPRO in Ogun State from 2008 to 2016 and has since led transformative initiatives to bridge the gap between the police and the public.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, lauded the promotion and urged DCP Adejobi to continue being a beacon of integrity and professionalism. The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to merit-based advancement as it continues its reform journey
