Tinubu Moves Surveyor-General’s Office to Presidency for Strategic Infrastructure Oversight

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the relocation of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGoF) from the Federal Ministry of Works to the Presidency.

The announcement was made during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting on Thursday, where President Tinubu emphasized that the move aims to enhance coordination and accelerate the execution of critical infrastructure projects—particularly the Lagos-Calabar and Sokoto-Badagry Super Highways.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, confirmed the development. He noted that the transfer will streamline the management of geospatial data and ensure more effective presidential oversight of national mapping and land administration activities.

Though further details were not provided, the decision is seen as part of the Tinubu administration’s broader reform strategy. It also highlights the increasing importance of geospatial intelligence in national planning, infrastructure development, and security management under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
