President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted the APC Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdulaziz Yari appointed as Director-General.
President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as chairman and vice-chairman of the council, while APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda will serve as another vice-chairman.
Governor Hope Uzodimma has been appointed Secretary of the campaign council. APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.
The council’s advisory body will include Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni have been appointed Deputy Director-Generals for the campaign, alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau for the two zones.
Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilisation as Deputy Director-General, while the President’s Chief of Staff will handle administration.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the 2022/2023 campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
He will work with zonal directors covering the six geopolitical zones, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South and Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East.
The council also unveiled directorates covering legal affairs, media and strategic communication, new media, election planning and mobilisation.
Muiz Adeyemi Banire will head the Legal Directorate, while Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris Malagi will coordinate Media and Strategic Communication alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
The campaign has also appointed five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake, with Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda serving alongside him.
President Tinubu charged members of the council to work tirelessly to secure victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections and urged directorate leaders to bring on board other party members who may not have been formally listed.
Defending his administration’s record, Tinubu said the government had delivered on its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on the path to economic progress.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians.”
He urged the campaign team to confidently showcase the administration’s achievements and defeat opposition forces seeking to “take our country backwards.”
