The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will resume nationwide on Monday, August 18, 2025, in preparation for the 2027 general elections and other upcoming off-cycle polls.

According to a statement from the commission, the registration will begin with online pre-registration via the INEC CVR portal (https://cvr.inecnigeria.org), while physical registration at INEC offices and designated centres across the country will commence on Monday, August 25, 2025. The physical exercise will hold on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The CVR will allow eligible Nigerians who have just turned 18, as well as those who have not previously registered, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). It also provides an opportunity for registered voters to request transfers, corrections, or replacement of lost or damaged PVCs.

INEC urged citizens to take advantage of the dual online and in-person process to participate actively in the country’s democratic process. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a seamless and inclusive registration exercise that guarantees every eligible Nigerian the right to vote.
