In a decisive move, the Ga Traditional Council has issued a stern warning to Eze Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, an Igbo traditional leader who has been parading himself as the “King of the Igbo People in Ghana”.

The council has denounced Eze Chukwudi’ actions, citing concerns that his claims could undermine Ghana’s sovereignty and traditional chieftaincy institutions.

The Ga Traditional Council held an emergency meeting on July 9, 2025, presided over by King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, where they unanimously resolved to dissociate themselves from Eze Ihenetu’s activities.

According to the council, Eze Chukwudi Ihenetu’s actions are unacceptable and have sparked widespread concern among the Ga people.

The council’s resolutions include dissociating themselves from all activities of Eze Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, ceasing all traditional and cultural activities from the acclaimed Igbo King in the Ga state forthwith, dissolving all assigned paramount chiefs by the self-acclaimed Igbo King within Ga state, and stopping Eze Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu from parading himself as king within the Ga state.

The Ga Traditional Council’s actions are seen as a move to preserve Ghana’s cultural heritage and territorial integrity, and to protect the country’s sovereignty from potential threats.

The development has sparked heated debates on social media, with some citizens calling on the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to intervene and clarify whether Ghanaian laws permit foreigners to hold royal titles on Ghanaian soil.

However, the Ga Traditional Council remains resolute in its stance, warning Eze Ihenetu to desist from any further actions that could be seen as undermining the authority of the Ga traditional rulers.
