The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed four officers found culpable in connection with the killing of 22-year-old Anthony Obodo, a fresh graduate of the University of Port Harcourt.
The disciplinary action was announced during a briefing in Port Harcourt, following investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of the young graduate.
The development comes amid heightened public concern over the incident and renewed calls for accountability where security personnel are found to have acted unlawfully.
The four officers involved in the case have now been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force, with the command also taking further steps in handling the criminal aspects of the incident.
The case has drawn significant attention because of the age of the deceased and the fact that he had recently completed his university education before his death.
In a separate development, the command also paraded 14 other suspects arrested in connection with various alleged criminal activities across the state.
The suspects were linked to allegations involving kidnapping, armed robbery and one-chance robbery.
