In a major breakthrough, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled a significant drug distribution network in Lagos, apprehending a businessman, his wife, two daughters, and a family friend.

The suspects, identified as Ajah Johnson Uchenna, Rosemary, Stella, Ngozi, and Okoro Elijah, were arrested following a series of strategic operations.

The crackdown began with intelligence reports that led to the arrest of the couple on June 13 by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Ojo, Lagos.

A substantial haul of 277.5 kilograms of cannabis was seized, and the couple was subsequently handed over to the NDLEA.

Further investigation revealed that the family’s illicit activities persisted despite the parents’ arrest. Acting on fresh intelligence, NDLEA operatives conducted a raid on the family’s residence and storage facility on July 1, confiscating an additional 231 kilograms of cannabis.

The daughters and family friend were arrested during the operation.

NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, noted: “While still in custody and under investigation, NDLEA received credible intelligence that the family’s drug operations were still ongoing.”
