The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two senior officials of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) over alleged fraud connected to the 2025 Hajj exercise.

According to EFCC sources, the arrests followed investigations into suspected financial irregularities, including alleged diversion of funds and abuse of office, during the planning and execution of this year’s pilgrimage.

The identities of the arrested officials have not yet been made public, but they are reportedly top-ranking members of NAHCON involved in the administration of Hajj operations.

EFCC operatives confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and are assisting investigators with information. The Commission added that further details would be made available upon the conclusion of preliminary investigations.

The arrest comes amid heightened scrutiny over the management of funds and logistics for the 2025 Hajj, following complaints from pilgrims about poor services and rising costs.

The EFCC assured Nigerians that it remains committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in all sectors, including religious and pilgrimage institutions.
