Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the appointment of Prince Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesha land.

This announcement was made alongside the approval of Prince Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the approval of the two monarchs was ratified and approved during the Osun State Executive Council Meeting presided over by Governor Adeleke.

Prince Haastrup’s appointment follows the demise of the immediate past Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesha land, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, who passed away on September 11, 2024. Similarly, Prince Abikoye’s appointment comes after the demise of Oba Tinuoye Atolagbe on November 19, 2023.

The Commissioner noted that Governor Adeleke congratulated the two newly approved monarchs, emphasizing that their choices followed due processes in line with the Chiefs’ Law of Osun State 2002 (Cap 25).

Adeleke enjoined the indigenes of the two towns to cooperate with their new traditional rulers, particularly in allowing peace and unity to take center stage.

In a related development, Governor Adeleke passed a vote of confidence on all members of his Executive Council, describing their services as “a job well done” in the year 2024.
