I Was Close to Suicide, Says Biden
27th April 2024
American President, Joe Biden, has revealed that he once considered suicide after losing his first wife, Neila and daughter, Naomi, in a car crash in Delaware in 1972, Daily Mail reports.
Biden disclosed this when he sat for a surprise interview with radio journalist, Howard Stern, during his visit to New York on Friday, April 26.
Stating that one does not have to be crazy to commit suicide, he said: βI donβt drink, thatβs not a virtue. I just never drank. And, I used to sit there and think to myself, Iβm just gonna take out a bottle of scotch. We always had liquor in the house, and I was gonna just drink it and get drunk, and I can never bring myself to do it.
βYou donβt have to be crazy to commit suicide if youβve been to the top of the mountain and you think youβll never be there again.
βFor a brief moment, I thought maybe Iβll just go to Delaware Memorial Bridge and just jump, but I had two kids.”
During the interview, Biden said he would be more than happy to debate his Republican rival, Donald Trump, saying: βI am, somewhere, I donβt know when, but I am happy to debate him.β
He spent Thursday night in New York City after attending a fundraiser hosted by actor, Michael Douglas, in Westchester County.
