The Council of Yoruba Elders has raised a chilling alarm over an alleged plot by the Fulani to conquer the South-West, calling on influential Yoruba sons and daughters to unite for an urgent rescue mission.

In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by the council’s Secretary-General, Victor Taiwo, and Chairman of the Security Committee, Amos Marcus Omuiyadun, the elders declared that Yorubaland, which extends from southern Nigeria to the Republic of Benin, is in a state of wailing and mourning over the invasion of “murderers” and “vagabonds.”

“Yorubaland is bleeding. Our people are being killed, our women violated, our children abducted, and our farmlands destroyed. This is not a normal security challenge. This is a calculated plan to overrun our land,” the statement read.

The council called on eminent Yoruba figures, including business magnates Mike Adenuga, Femi Otedola, and Kessington Adebutu; religious leaders Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, and Pastor William Kumuyi; and music icons Wizkid and Olamide, to join the rescue mission and restore peace to Yorubaland.

Other notable Yoruba indigenes called upon include Adebayo Adelabu, Oriyomi Hamzat, Sharafadeen Alli, Senator Teslim Folarin, and Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).

The statement has sparked widespread reactions, with many Yorubas expressing support for the call while others have questioned the timing and motive behind the alarm. Some have also accused the council of stoking ethnic tension.

The council, however, insisted that the threat is real and that urgent action is needed to prevent a full-scale takeover of the South-West. “We are not crying wolf. We have seen the signs. We have heard the whispers. We have counted the bodies. The time to act is now,” the elders warned.

The Federal Government has yet to respond to the allegations.
