A Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) worker has taken to social media to lament the agency’s alleged underpayment of its staff, pleading with top officials to intervene.

“We are calling you out, we are begging you, sir,” the worker said, addressing Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the CEO of LAWMA.

“Mrs. Folasade Kadiri, the head of public affairs for LAWMA, Mr. Oluwakemi Suleimon, Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, executive director of finance for LAWMA, we are begging you in the name of God.” She said

The worker expressed frustration over the agency’s alleged unfair treatment, stating that they are struggling to make ends meet due to the meager salary. “The least broom an individual uses in a month is about 2 to 3 at N1,000 per broom. You keep disbursing N30,000 for us instead of N85,000,” the worker said.

“We understand that you’re our boss without you there’s nobody like us, without us too there’s nobody like you people because we are the one working for you,” the worker added.

“Why are you treating us this way? It is absolutely wrong. It is very bad.”

The worker also claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approved N25,000 relief fund was not evenly distributed, with each worker receiving only N10,000.

“You keep reaping us of our sweat. You don’t pity us working on the road,” the worker said.

The worker’s plea has sparked outrage, with many calling for an investigation into LAWMA’s payment practices.

“If LAWMA workers decide to strike for 3 days, the whole state would be in a mess,” the worker warned.

“Please help us to trend this video. We are not asking too much, just pay us well.”

Other Lagos Government workers, such as those in the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC), have reportedly started receiving the N85,000 minimum wage.

The worker urged LAWMA officials to “make amendment if you feel we are calling you out wrongly. We have emotions and feelings too, with blood in our veins.”
