In a decisive statement, the Azagba of Asaba has made it clear that the South-South region belongs to its indigenous people, and anyone claiming to be Igbo in the region is considered a migrant.

A video posted by Austin Omokaro on X shows the Azagba of Asaba speaking to Ned Nwoko and rejecting his initiative to include Igbo people in the proposed Anioma State.

According to the Azagba, when people suggest that Igbo people should be part of Anioma State under the South-East, it is met with resistance from the people who live across the bridge.

The Azagba emphasized that the people of Delta North have their distinct identity and do not want to be forced into a state with people from the South-East.

The Azagba made it clear that the Anioma people have no desire to be part of a state that would be dominated by Igbo-speaking people from the Southeast. The video has sparked intense debate about the proposed Anioma State and the potential implications of its creation.
