President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s push to position Nigeria as a global trade hub is gaining traction, with Minister of Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, hosting high-ranking envoys from the Netherlands, Russia, Mexico, and China in Abuja.

The high-level meeting, announced via the Presidency’s official X handle, was framed as a strategic move under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to deepen Nigeria’s economic integration with the world. Discussions zeroed in on key growth sectors—trade facilitation, investment promotion, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and the digital economy—seen as critical to driving sustainable development and attracting foreign direct investment.

Oduwole assured the visiting diplomats of Nigeria’s resolve to create an investor-friendly climate through reforms that foster innovation, competitiveness, and transparent business practices. The envoys, in turn, applauded the reform momentum and signaled readiness to expand cooperation beyond capital inflows to include skills transfer, technology adoption, and infrastructure development—moves analysts say could help unlock Nigeria’s untapped market potential and strengthen its position in the global value chain.
