Ondo Govt Begins ₦350m Bursary Disbursement to Indigenous Students

The Ondo State Government has commenced the disbursement of over ₦350 million as bursary and scholarship support to indigenous students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held on Tuesday in Akure, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa said the initiative is part of his administration’s efforts to ease the financial burden on students and their sponsors.

Represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, the governor described the scheme as a critical step toward revitalizing education and motivating students to achieve academic excellence.

Aiyedatiwa said the 2025 bursary, scholarship, and financial assistance programme will benefit 11,358 students across various tertiary institutions.

“The year 2025 has been a remarkable chapter in our educational journey, as our interventions have continued to transform lives, institutions, and communities across Ondo State,” he said.

“Today’s bursary, scholarship and financial assistance programme is a demonstration of our government’s deep concern for the welfare of our students. We recognise the challenges that many of them face, and through this initiative, we are determined to ensure that no child of Ondo State is denied education due to financial hardship.”

He added that the policy is designed to reduce the financial burden on parents and promote access to quality education for all qualified indigenes.

The governor charged beneficiaries to uphold discipline, integrity, and hard work, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening education and human capital development in the state.
