Lekki Port Commences Operation

In a breaking announcement, Lekki Port is thrilled to inform the public about the arrival of its inaugural trans-shipment vessel, CMA CGM RIMBAUD, which sailed all the way from the Far East to Lekki Port.

The vessel, with a length overall (LOA) of 270 meters, a breadth of 42.8 meters, and a capacity of 6,900 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), marks an exciting milestone for the port.With the assistance of the capable personnel from the Nigerian Ports Authority, the vessel was successfully berthed at around 1 pm today, ensuring smooth marine services.

The Nigerian Customs Agency carried out necessary inspections and certified that all paperwork was in order.The transshipment volume on board the vessel amounts to 411 TEUs, and its final destination will be Cotonou on July 6, 2023.

Lekki Port takes pride in achieving the objective set by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Nigeria, and the Nigerian Ports Authority to enhance trans-shipment volumes in Nigeria.

This significant milestone represents the first of many future trans-shipment vessels that will dock at Lekki Port, demonstrating its growing importance as a maritime hub.
