Lagos to host ‘Boat Regatta 2024’, showcasing the rich heritage of the state Indigenous people

The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has announced that the Lagos Boat Regatta 2024 will take place on December 21, 2024.

This event promises to be an unforgettable occasion for Lagosians and visitors alike, showcasing the vibrant aquatic life and rich traditional and cultural heritage of the Lagos indigenous people.

The Regatta will reinforce the State’s position as a premier tourism destination in Africa. This year’s event will focus on engaging the local fishing communities, spotlighting their cultural contributions, and exploring ways the Regatta can provide economic benefits to them.

Participants from the five IBILE (Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe) divisions of Lagos State will compete in various categories, with exciting prizes up for grabs.

Private boat owners will also have the chance to display their creativity, adding a distinct Lagos flair to the event.

The Ministry invites stakeholders, residents, and visitors to mark their calendars for December 21, 2024, as Lagos celebrates its traditional and cultural heritage in grand style.
