A formal complaint has been lodged with the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State HQ, regarding allegations of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking against Sabina Nkiru.

The complaint was filed on behalf of Honourable Bello El-Rufai, Member of the House of Representatives for Kaduna North Federal Constituency.

According to the complaint, Sabina Nkiru made a publication on the microblogging app X, formerly known as Twitter, which has been widely circulated in the social media space.

The publication alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) discovered $800 million, N700 billion cash, and N1 trillion worth of drugs at the residence of Nasir El-Rufai’s son in Kaduna.

The complaint stated that the publication has gained wide publication and readership, including by other blogs and publishers.

These publications displayed Honourable Bello El-Rufai’s name and picture, referring to him as a corrupt Nigerian leader who steals money for personal gain and a drug peddler, among other negative imputations.

The complaint alleged that Sabina Nkiru’s publication has not only defamed Honourable Bello El-Rufai but also places him in danger of enmity, public hatred, intimidation, and imminent threat to his life, contrary to extant laws.

Honourable Bello El-Rufai has categorically denied the allegations, stating that they are false and a sheer attempt to tarnish his image and discredit his person in his private and public life.

The complaint requested the Commissioner of Police to cause an investigation into the allegations made in the widely spread publication with utmost urgency, having regard to the sensitivity of the subject.
