Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, representing Cross River North, has explained that his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is driven by his desire to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform-focused administration.

Jarigbe stated this during a meeting with PDP leaders from his senatorial district in Abuja on Tuesday, as part of ongoing consultations following his October 22 visit to Aso Rock, where he formally informed the president of his decision.

According to a statement by his media aide, John Agom, the senator assured his constituents that his move to the ruling party was not for personal gain but a strategic alignment with national progress and stability.

“My people should be assured that defecting to the ruling party will not stop me from empowering the constituents and embarking on people-oriented projects to alleviate the sufferings of the zone,” Jarigbe said.

He further pledged continued engagement with party stakeholders and community leaders, adding that his defection will enhance development opportunities for the region rather than diminish them.

“Our regular consultations will not stop. There are better days ahead,” he added confidently.
