In a bid to ensure he achieves the Renewed Hope Agenda of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government, the Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority, Hon Oyetunde Ojo, has said Nigerians in general would be proud of his commitment as he’s so determined to do everything within his capacity to ensure the delivery of the agenda of the President in providing accommodation for Nigerian people, a mandate, he says he cannot afford to fail.
Hon Ojo gave the assurance while chatting with newsmen in Ekiti State shortly after meeting with the governor of the state, Abiodun Oyebamiji.
Ojo, who led other management to Ekiti on a visitation tour sought the cooperation of state governors in a bid to deliver on his cardinal mandate of providing liveable and affordable houses for Nigerians in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in housing.
Honourable Ojo, who said he’s ready and committed to meeting the yearnings of the average Nigerians in getting liveable and affordable accommodation, charged the governors on the need for them to help the housing authority actualize its aims by providing them land and other necessary support.
Ojo informed Governor Oyebanji that he would tour all the southwestern states, saying the visit was primarily to get the state government’s buy-in in the authority’s drive to make houses available to Nigerians of all classes in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President.
Ojo stated the the new FHA management under his leadership had decided that people would have to take the ownership of projects that were delivered for them.
He noted that the best way to have this buy -in was to interact with them.
Ojo said: “Our management found It
necessary to go round the states to meet the governors and seek for collaboration to provide houses to Nigerians. As the custodian of land in the state we intend to ask for land to enable us build for their people.”
The MD told the governor that his team had come to ask for land in Ekiti State for the purpose of building houses for the people of the state.
He explained that the authority had come up with various types of houses and models that all classes of Nigerians could benefit from.
According to Ojo, FHA would be building more of 1-bedrooms and studio apartments as well as deliver houses in carcass.
He said the authority would do the electrical and plumbing fittings with a prototype exterior.
This, he explained would stop the needless expensive luxurious finishing that affects the cost of houses, and allow individuals to finish the houses to their taste and capacity.
Responding, Governor Oyebanji appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing a worthy son of the state in the person of Honourable Ojo as the chief executive of Federal Housing Authority.
He thanked the MD and his team for choosing Ekiti State as their first port of in their tour of the South-West zone.
On the request for land, the governor promised to make as much land as the Authority needed available, provided it would be developed within a specific time frame.
He, therefore, commended the FHA management for the vision of consulting all states which would help to know individual state’s needs, culture and challenges which would make them take ownership of the houses to be built for them.
