FG Awards ₦250,000 Grants to Ondo MSME Owners, VP Shettima Calls It “A Gift to Industry Champions”

Akure, Nigeria – The Federal Government has disbursed ₦250,000 each to outstanding small business owners in Ondo State, as part of its ongoing efforts to empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Nigeria.

The announcement was made by Vice President Kashim Shettima during the launch of the 7th edition of the Expanded National MSME Clinics, held Tuesday at The Dome, Akure.

According to Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), the initiative was publicised via his official X handle.

Vice President Shettima clarified that the ₦250,000 support is not a loan, but a direct gift from the Nigerian people to outstanding small business owners in recognition of their hard work and contribution to the local economy.

“This is not a loan. It is a gift from the Nigerian people, through their government, to the champions of local industry,” Shettima said.
“It is our way of saying: we see you, we value you, and we believe in your journey.”

The event marks another milestone in the government’s commitment to stimulating the MSME sector, widely regarded as the engine of economic growth and job creation in Nigeria.

Local entrepreneurs expressed appreciation for the intervention, noting that it would greatly enhance their business capacity and sustainability.
