Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, has congratulated his longtime friend and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, on the progress recorded since the Dangote Refinery commenced operations.

Otedola described the project as a “historic leap for Nigeria’s energy independence and economic future,” noting that it has transformed the nation’s petroleum landscape.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for having the political will to fully deregulate the downstream sector, a move he said has broken entrenched interests and ushered in a new era of transparency, competition, and efficiency.

The oil magnate, who founded Zenon Oil and played a key role in reshaping Nigeria’s diesel market, further noted that many old business models in the industry have become obsolete with the refinery’s efficiency and capacity.

According to him, the Dangote Refinery has not only boosted local production but also modernized fuel distribution with 8,000 brand-new CNG trucks, easing traffic gridlock around Apapa and Ibafon.

“With local refining now efficient, reliable, and proudly Nigerian, the era of inefficiency is over, the game has changed,” Otedola declared.
