Umar Damagun, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, the Acting National Secretary of PDP, have threatened to take legal action against Deji Adeyanju, a lawyer and rights activist, over alleged defamatory remarks.

According to their counsel, Johnson Usman, SAN, Adeyanju made inflammatory and derogatory comments against Damagun and Anyanwu, describing the PDP national chair as a “Tea man who goes to serve tea in Femi Gbajabiamila’s House” and Anyanwu as a “Kilishi Man” who serves “Kilishi” at the residence of the Chief of Staff to the President.

Adeyanju allegedly stated, “This current PDP is in the pocket of Nyesom Wike at the national level.”

Israel Ujah, a lawyer in Usman’s law firm, claimed that these statements were intentionally made to damage Damagun’s and Anyanwu’s reputations and political careers.

Ujah emphasized that Adeyanju’s right to freedom of speech does not extend to making unsubstantiated and defamatory remarks against others.

He demanded an immediate retraction of the statements and a public apology within three days.

Failure to comply may result in civil and criminal litigation. As Ujah concluded, “A word is enough for the wise!”.
