Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s former presidential candidate, has signaled his openness to a coalition agreement that would limit his presidency to a single term, with a planned handover to a Northern leader by 2031.
In a recent online discussion on X, formerly Twitter, Obi participated in a session titled #PeterObiOnParallelFacts, which attracted a massive audience of almost 11,000 live viewers with thousands of comments.
When questioned about his views on a potential power-sharing arrangement, Obi prioritized his commitment to moral integrity over personal aspirations.
He pledged to adhere strictly to any agreement, stating, “If the agreement is one term, I will leave on May 28, 2031 — not even May 29.”
Obi emphasized that his motivation stems from a genuine desire to see Nigeria thrive, rather than a personal quest for power. “I am not desperate to be president,” he said. “I am desperate to see Nigeria work.” He mentioned.
