The Anambra State government has taken bold action against fake native doctors and illicit activities by sealing a notorious shrine in Umuofor village, Okija.
The shrine, operated by Ekene Igboegbueze, a self-proclaimed native doctor, was shut down after numerous complaints from Okija residents about his promises of super wealth through supernatural means.
According to Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Prince Ken Emeakai, the government acted on reports from the local community, stating that Igboegbueze’s business is illegal under Anambra State Homeland Security Laws.
Properties acquired through the illicit trade have also been sealed.
Emeakai added that all items found in the shrine will undergo forensic examination, and the results will determine further government action.
This move is part of the state Government’s intensified campaign against ritual-linked crimes and cyber fraud.
Director of Operations for Agunechemba Security Outfit, Chinenye Ihenko, warned youths against patronizing fake native doctors and pastors, stating that their activities fuel a get-rich-quick mentality in the state. He urged youths to engage in legitimate ventures to avoid falling foul of the law.
