Ekiti’s pioneer broadcaster, Christianah ‘Eye Opitan’ Ademulegun, passes on at 74

The Ekiti State broadcasting community has been thrown into mourning with the passing of Christianah Ademulegun, fondly known as “Eye Opitan”.

The veteran broadcaster, who was the first indigenous broadcaster in Ekiti State, died on Thursday after a brief illness, according to a statement released by her son, Femi Ademulegun.

Ademulegun, 74, was a renowned broadcaster who spent several years working with the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti before retiring and consulting for private stations.

She was celebrated for her distinctive voice and creative style of chanting Ekiti eulogies and praise poems.

The late broadcaster is survived by her children and grandchildren, who will deeply miss her. Her legacy as a pioneering broadcaster in Ekiti State will continue to be celebrated and remembered.
