A somber mass burial ceremony was held today for the 147 innocent victims of Boko Haram’s gruesome attack on farmers and fishermen at Dumba near Baga, Borno State, on Sunday, January 12.

The heinous act is the latest in a long series of atrocities committed by the terrorist group, which has been wreaking havoc in the region for years.

The attack, which was carried out with sheer brutality, has raised widespread outrage and condemnation.

The fact that Boko Haram continues to perpetrate such heinous crimes with impunity is a stark reminder of the urgent need for President Bola Tinubu’s Government to take decisive action to protect civilians and ensure that justice is served.

In the aftermath of the attack, Boko Haram militants escalated their violence, targeting those who attempted to gather the bodies of the victims and those who died trying to escape.

Boko Haram’s reign of terror has been marked by a pattern of abductions, particularly of women and girls, as well as widespread looting of property.

The group’s actions have caused immense suffering and displacement, with countless families left to pick up the pieces and struggle to rebuild their lives.

As the people of Nigeria mourn the loss of innocent lives, they also demand justice and action from their Government. The international community must also stand in solidarity with the Nigerian people and condemn Boko Haram’s atrocities in the strongest possible terms.
