A CIA analyst, Asif William Rahman, has pleaded guilty to leaking top-secret U.S. documents.

Rahman, who had been employed by the CIA since 2016, held a top-secret security clearance, granting him access to sensitive compartmented information.

According to the Department of Justice, Rahman accessed and printed classified information beginning in spring 2024.

He then altered the documents to conceal their source and shared them with unauthorized individuals.

Rahman’s actions have been condemned by US Attorney Jessica Aber, who stated that his actions “placed lives at risk, undermined U.S. foreign relations, and compromised our ability to collect vital intelligence in the future.”

Rahman’s guilty plea marks a significant breach of national security, highlighting concerns about the handling of classified information within government agencies.
