Asoebi Festival 2024: A celebration of diversity and cultural pride

On Friday, October 11, 2024, the iconic Chak89 Banqueting venue in Mitcham played host to the highly anticipated ASOEBI Festival, International Cultural Gala Night and Awards 2024.

The event, founded by HRH Princess Moradeun Adedoyin-Solarin, was a resounding success, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to celebrate cultural preservation, community service, and excellence.

The evening’s festivities commenced with a grand Red Carpet reception, graced by esteemed royal guests, including HRM Olori Oluwabunmi Adekeye, HRM Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi, and HRH Erelu Lola Ayonrinde Tunwase, former Mayor of Royal Borough of Wandsworth.

Special Guests of Honour included The Worshipful Mayor of Croydon Borough, Cllr Kolapo Agboola, and his wife Mayoress Helen Agboola.

The Awards Ceremony was a highlight of the evening, recognizing 14 individuals and 3 groups for their outstanding contributions to cultural preservation and community service.

Notable recipients included Motown Star Gloria Jones, who celebrated 60 years of her hit song “Tainted Love,” and UK’s renowned House Music Group, Heartless Crew.

A special fundraiser auction, featuring autographed boxing gloves donated by World Boxing Champion Anthony AJ Joshua, raised funds for charities supported by ASOEBI Festival 2024.

HRH Prince Mike Abiola and HRH Princess Golda Abiola emerged as the highest bidders.

Throughout the evening, attendees were treated to captivating cultural performances, exquisite traditional attire, and heartfelt moments of recognition.

The event’s electric atmosphere was a testament to the power of diversity and cultural celebration.

HRH Princess Moradeun Adedoyin-Solarin, Founder and Visionary of ASOEBI Festival, expressed her gratitude to sponsors, exhibitors, media partners, hosts, and attendees for making the event a resounding success.
