A deep-sea port license has been granted to the Ondo State Government, enhancing the state’s potential as an industrial center in the future.
The proposal for the creation of the Deep Sea-Port was resubmitted by the state governor in 2017. After extensive lobbying and agitation on behalf of the Deep Sea-Port by the Ondo State Government, the efforts were successful.
The Federal Government approved the Deep Sea-Port on Wednesday during a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House in Abuja.
At the FEC meeting, the Federal Executive Council immediately authorized the port’s operational permit.
By generating jobs and clearing congestion from the Lagos Port, the Deep Sea-Port is anticipated to strengthen Nigeria’s economy.
According to sources, Akeredolu made the fight to protect the port his top priority as soon as he took office as governor in 2017.
According to the source, the state government’s coordinated efforts were further aided by the appointment of Prince Ademola Adegoroye, a native of Ondo State, as Minister of State in the Federal Ministry of Transportation in July 2022.
Following extensive due diligence by both the state and federal governments, Akeredolu has submitted the port proposal to the federal government for approval.
The Federal Ministry of Transportation provided information about the approval through the Minister of Transportation, Eng. Muazu Jaji Sambo.
