An 18-year-old Nigerian student, Abiola Abidoye, has made history by attaining the highest A-Level result in Law across the United Kingdom.

Abidoye, who studied at One Sixth Form College, Ipswich, achieved A* grades in mathematics, further mathematics, law, and physics. His law result was particularly outstanding, scoring 224 out of 240 marks across three papers despite admitting that the subject was not his strongest area.

“I am really pleased,” Abidoye said. “Maths and physics are my strong suit, but I chose law because it’s my passion. I’m very passionate about different types of law, even ones we didn’t study, like human rights. It was just a fun lesson I wanted to do, and I wasn’t expecting to do so well.”

The teenager revealed that he was stunned to learn he had secured the best law result nationwide. “I was very surprised… I saw that result before my others, and I was already nervous waiting for them. I put in an immense amount of work, staying up to ungodly hours. I put a lot of pressure on myself, but I’m happy with the outcome,” he added.

Abidoye also credited his teachers for their support, saying: “The teachers at One Sixth Form College were wonderful and helped me a lot.”

With his stellar results, he is set to study mathematics at university, with long-term ambitions of pursuing a career in banking or finance.
