In what is seen as a bold move for growth and greater visibility, Nigeria international and proud son of Yorùbá land, Ademola Lookman, has received the full backing of the Super Eagles in his bid to leave Italian Serie A side, Atalanta.

Ademola, whose name and heritage proudly reflect his deep Yorùbá roots, rose to global prominence after netting a historic hat-trick in the 2024 UEFA Europa League Final, helping Atalanta clinch their first-ever European title. His remarkable form has since attracted top interest from elite clubs across Europe, including the English Premier League and La Liga.

Now, the 26-year-old forward is pushing for a transfer, believing the time is right for a new challenge that will elevate his career and offer greater global exposure. Members of the Super Eagles coaching crew and senior players are said to support his decision viewing it not just as a personal step forward for Lookman, but also as a boost for Nigeria’s chances in upcoming AFCON qualifiers and the 2026 World Cup.

Lookman, who hails from a Nigerian-Yorùbá background, continues to show unwavering pride in his cultural identity, often acknowledging his roots during national team engagements and public appearances. His push for a move is seen by many at home as a testament to the ambition, resilience, and excellence associated with the Yorùbá heritage.

Though Atalanta are yet to make an official statement, insiders suggest negotiations may intensify in the coming days, with several clubs already making discreet approaches. If the transfer materializes, it would not only mark a new chapter in Lookman’s career but also reinforce the global reputation of Yorùbá sons making Nigeria proud on the world stage.
