For yet another year, Lagos State University, a pride of Yoruba land, has emerged as Nigeria’s most sought-after university for the 2026 JAMB admission exercise, cementing the dominance of South-West institutions.

LASU tops the chart with 84,426 applications, followed closely by University of Lagos (78,240) and Obafemi Awolowo University (60,370). University of Ibadan also made the top five with 58,895 applications.

Yoruba land universities occupy four of the top five spots and six of the top ten positions, leaving other regions trailing. Federal University, Oye-Ekiti also made the list in ninth place.

The message is clear: when it comes to quality education, Yoruba land leads the nation.
