A daring attempt by bandits to invade Tara town in Sokoto State’s Sabon Birni Local Government Area was thwarted by local vigilantes and community watchmen on December 30.

According to intelligence sources, the bandits, led by a notorious gunman, were repelled thanks to the bravery and vigilance of the town’s defenders.

The vigilantes’ coordinated efforts and heightened sense of duty and patriotism were instrumental in averting what could have been a devastating assault.

Community leaders in Tara have urged residents to remain watchful and keep an eye on one another to avoid infiltration by informants.

These informants, often young individuals, are accused of jeopardizing local security efforts for personal gain.

The successful defense of Tara town is a testament to the resilience and determination of the local community to protect themselves against external threats.
