The body of former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, is expected to arrive in Benin City any moment from now.

Ahead of the arrival, the Edo State Police Command has mounted a ceremonial parade at the Benin Airport to honour the late police chief, who served as Nigeria’s IGP between 2015 and 2016.

Arase, who passed away recently, will be laid to rest on Friday, October 3, 2025. His burial service is expected to draw top government officials, senior police officers, traditional rulers, and members of the public.

The late IGP, a native of Edo State, was widely regarded for his reforms in community policing and his role in modernising Nigeria’s police operations.
