Toronto Police make arrest in hate-motivated threatening Investigation

The Toronto Police service has announced the arrest of the Nigerian-Igbo lady in connection with a hate-motivated threatening investigation.

The Police said they received a report of an online threat on August 28, 2024, targeting specific members of the Nigerian community, allegedly posted on August 25, 2024.

The lady identified as Amaka Sonnberger, a 46-year-old resident of Toronto, was taken into custody on September 1, 2024, and charged with Uttering Threats. She is scheduled to appear in court on September 2, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice, 2201 Finch Avenue West, in courtroom 107.

The Toronto Police Service is treating this investigation as a suspected hate-motivated offence, and the Hate Crime Unit is providing support. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.

The incident highlights the growing concern of hate-motivated crimes in Toronto, and the need for increased vigilance and reporting.
