An alleged terrorist commander has issued fresh threats against senior Nigerian government officials, warning that his group plans to abduct military officers, state governors, and even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the militant seen wearing what appeared to be a Nigerian military jacket boasted about recent mass kidnappings in Kebbi and Niger states, including the abduction of schoolchildren.

Speaking in Hausa, the unidentified commander dismissed recent security operations and arrests carried out by Nigerian forces, claiming they had not weakened the group’s capacity. He alleged that the government had “failed woefully” in its duty to protect citizens.

“Everyone has woken up. We kidnapped school students in Kebbi State and Niger State. Next time, we will be kidnapping Nigerian military officers and taking them to the forest,” he said in the video.

Displaying the jacket he wore, he added: “Look at the clothes I’m wearing, they belong to a soldier. Nigeria, in the days ahead, we will kidnap a governor, we will kidnap the President, and others.”

Security agencies have not yet issued an official response to the threats, but authorities are expected to review the video as part of ongoing counter-terrorism investigations.
