The Kano State Police Command has rescued a man from an angry mob following an alleged blasphemy incident at a hotel in the Badawa area of Kano metropolis.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. on December 21 at Sarina Hotel, Badawa Quarters

According to the sources, a distress call was received reporting that three men—Musa Tasiu, Awwal Ibrahim, and Soja Snu, all from Dorayi Quarters—had visited the hotel to smoke shisha.

The sources said that one of the men, identified as Musa Tasiu, allegedly entered the hotel mosque, broke the glass door, picked up a copy of the Holy Qur’an, and tore it.

Following the incident, an angry crowd reportedly gathered within the premises, placing the suspect at risk of mob violence.

Police patrol officers attached to the division were said to have responded promptly to the distress call, rescued the suspect, and restored calm in the area.

The sources added that the situation has since been brought under control, while investigation into the incident is ongoing.
