The Ebonyi State Police Command has ordered an autopsy for a 26-year-old nurse whose body was discovered at the country home of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, overruling the family’s objection to the procedure .

The nurse, identified as Chinyere, was found dead at the minister’s residence in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area . Preliminary investigations have yet to establish the circumstances surrounding her death, prompting the police to request a post-mortem examination to determine the cause.

The police command, through its spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, stated that the autopsy was necessary despite the family’s refusal, as the investigation into the incident continues . The family had reportedly rejected the autopsy, claiming the nurse may have been murdered .

The nurse’s body was initially moved from the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, to the National Hospital, Abuja, by police authorities . No arrests have been made in connection with the death as of the time of this report .
