Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have successfully foiled an organ harvesting plot and rescued a 19-year-old lady in the Douglas area of Imo State.

The suspect, identified as Justine Emmanuel, a 38-year-old man from Amimo in Ikeduru Local Government Area, was apprehended during the rescue operation.

According to Henry Okoye, the police spokesperson, the arrest was made possible by a swift response from officers on patrol who noticed suspicious activity involving a blue and white bus.

The operatives observed that the suspects were forcefully attempting to take the young lady to an undisclosed location, where they allegedly planned to kill her and harvest her organs.

He stated that during the chase, the victim courageously jumped from the moving bus and was rescued by the police.

The suspects abandoned their vehicle, and while one was arrested, others fled into the nearby bush

β€œThe police gave chase, prompting the suspects to abandon the vehicle. While one suspect was arrested, others fled into the nearby bush,” Okoye said.

The police have launched further investigations to track down the remaining members of the syndicate and uncover the full extent of their criminal activities.

Okoye reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling violent crime and ensuring the community’s safety, urging the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the authorities
