Oyotunji Village, a unique Yoruba kingdom in South Carolina, USA, has reaffirmed its deep ties to its ancestral roots by participating in the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, Alaafin Oba Engr. Akeem Abimbola Owoade I.

The village’s delegation, led by Olori Olamiti Pearse and Crown Prince Adejuola Akinjole Babatunde Ifalowo Adefunmi, showcased the community’s devotion to Yoruba traditions and spirituality.

Founded in 1970 by Oba Efuntola Oseijeman Adelabu Adefunmi, Oyotunji Village has upheld Yoruba customs, religion, and monarchy for over five decades.

The village is constructed to resemble traditional Yoruba city-states in Nigeria, featuring a Yoruba temple and a strong emphasis on spiritual heritage.

The Oyotunji royal family and community are dedicated Sango worshippers, honoring the Orisha of thunder, fire, and divine justice.

Their participation in the coronation ceremony highlights the living continuity between African spiritual heritage and its expression in the diaspora.

Oyotunji Village serves as a beacon for African cultural revival and spiritual identity, demonstrating the importance of preserving cultural heritage in the diaspora.
