The Oyo State Government has started disbursing compensation to property owners affected by developments in the Ajia Inukan Local Council Development Area, located in Ona Ara Local Government.

The announcement was made by Mr Williams Akin-Funmilayo, Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, during a meeting with the claimants on Monday. This information was shared in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 20, by Prince ‘Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation.

Akin-Funmilayo explained that the government recently acquired land for several development projects, including an Air Force Base, a General Hospital, and an Information Communication and Technology centre. These projects are all situated in Ajia, within the Ona Ara Local Government Area.

He further noted that the Oyo State government has allocated N513,462,446.50 as compensation for the affected property owners.

According to Akin-Funmilayo, this compensation is an important measure to build a positive relationship between the government and the residents.

The statement also revealed that the government had previously carried out a process to identify and verify the properties along the project area, which included evaluating the properties in preparation for compensation payments.

One of the claimants, Mr Adedokun Olalekan, expressed his appreciation to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde for his understanding and support towards the people of Oyo State.
