The Oyo diaspora community has pledged unwavering support for the newly crowned Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, and his wife, Olori Abiwumi Owoade.

Princess Bilikisu Savage, Chairman of Oyo Alaafin Sons and Daughters in the Diaspora, expressed the group’s enthusiasm for the new monarch’s vision.

In a statement, Princess Savage said, “The coronation ceremony was not just a spectacle of tradition, but a divine affirmation of the leadership and wisdom bestowed upon Kabiyesi.”

She added, “Kabiyesi, the diaspora is 100% with you.

“We stand united in your reign, your vision, and your noble aspirations for the future of Oyo.”

The diaspora group commended the Alaafin for establishing the office of the Chief of Staff to manage palace affairs, citing potential benefits for the community.

They donated N11 million to the palace, with N1 million allocated to setting up the office.

“We love to partner you in this journey to bring back the glory of Oyo Alaafin, many of us want to build homes, industries and with your support, it is a done deal,” Princess Savage stated.

Oba Owoade aims to build strong institutions through collaboration and partnership, driving sustainable growth in Oyo Kingdom.

He emphasized unity, diversity, and collective effort in achieving progress.

In his acceptance speech, the Alaafin expressed gratitude to his subjects and outlined his vision for the kingdom’s development.

He stressed the importance of unity, stating that “the power of unity remains unmatched as it fosters a sense of belonging, overcomes challenges and ultimately paves the way for shared progress and growth.”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Minister of Finance Chief Adebayo Adelabu, charged the new Alaafin to use his stool to foster peace, promote cultural identity, and support governance.

Governor Seyi Makinde assured that his administration would continue to follow due process in governing Oyo State.
