TOUGH TIMES DEMAND TOUGH MEASURES: A CALL TO ACTION FOR PRESIDENT TINUBU

November 10, 2025
By Olatayo Ogedengbe Esq.

The current security situation in Nigeria demands immediate and decisive action from the government. As the President of Nigeria, it is imperative that President Bola Tinubu takes concrete steps to address the growing threat of terrorism and insurgency in the country.

To this end, I humbly suggest the following measures:ARREST AND PROSECUTE SUSPECTED TERRORIST SYMPATHISERS: Individuals like Gumi, who have been accused of having associations with terrorist groups, should be arrested and prosecuted if found guilty. This will send a strong message that Nigeria will not tolerate any form of support or sympathy for terrorism.

LAUNCH A COMPREHENSIVE MILITARY OPERATION: The Nigerian Navy should be ordered to use drones and helicopters to identify and destroy terrorist camps in the forests across the country. This operation should be carried out in conjunction with other security agencies to ensure maximum impact.

IDENTIFY AND PROSECUTE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COLLABORATORS: The government should leave no stone unturned in identifying and prosecuting individuals and organisations that are providing support to terrorist groups, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

ARREST HERDSMEN CARRYING MILITARY ASSAULT RIFLES: The government should openly declare an order to arrest herdsmen found carrying military assault rifles, as this is a clear indication of their involvement in terrorist activities.

President Tinubu has already made significant progress in the fight against terrorism, with over 100 terror financiers convicted and over 13,000 terrorists neutralised. However, more needs to be done to address the root causes of terrorism and ensure that Nigeria is safe and secure for all its citizens.

Furthermore, if President Trump’s threat or warning is carried out, it may lead to a change of government administration in Nigeria. It may leave Nigeria like Libya and Iraq. A word to the wise is enough.

It is my hope that the government will take these suggestions seriously and take immediate action to address the security challenges facing the country.
