The Vice Principal of Complete Child Development Centre, Awule, Akure, in Ondo State, was brutally assaulted by thugs allegedly hired by the parent of a student.

The incident occurred after the Vice Principal disallowed the student, Master Wisdom Elisha, from cheating with an Android phone during the ongoing WAEC examination.

The student’s mother had threatened to kill the Vice Principal and any member of the school authority if her child was not allowed to cheat during the forthcoming mathematics examination.

The Vice Principal is currently receiving treatment at St John & Mary Hospital, Odokoyi, where he is admitted.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, has ordered the immediate arrest of the thugs involved in the attack.

“The Ondo State Police Command will not tolerate any form of violence, especially within our educational institutions,” CP Afolabi stated.

“All those responsible for this shameful act must be brought to book.”

The police have assigned the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to lead the investigation and apprehend the perpetrators.

The CP assured the public that the police are on top of the situation and urged law-abiding residents to remain calm.

“The safety and security of every citizen remains our top priority,” he emphasized.

The incident has drawn public condemnation, and efforts are being made to ensure justice is served.

The attention of relevant authorities, including the Federal Ministry of Education, IGP, Ondo State Governor, and WAEC Headquarters, has been called to the matter.
